The Trial of William Tyndale

  • Fire for the Ploughman  is the critically acclaimed stage drama by actor and playwright Jack Caulfield.  In this stunning one-man performance Caulfield passionately portrays William Tyndale's quest to publish “the Forbidden Book” and to recover the message of salvation by faith alone.  Derek de Cambra, Artistic Director of Christian Arts Inc., says: “There is no actor alive who can portray this role with greater intensity and sincerity than Jack Caulfield.”

  • The performance is intimate, intense and deeply personal.

This stirring 70 minute drama introduces audiences to real men and women who are willing to lay down their lives for the sake of the Gospel.  Young and old are enthralled as they find themselves transported to another time and place in history!

Defying both the political and religious establishments, William Tyndale risks everything to recover the Church’s long forgotten message that “the just shall live by faith!” His one consuming passion: to put the “fire” of the Word of God into the hands of the simple ploughman.

“Know ye not Who taught the eagles to find their prey?  Well that same God teaches His hungry children to find their Father in His Book!”

No longer would religion be “the profitablest merchandise in the world”!

How did one solitary man achieve such staggering achievements as to become:
                                           . . . the Apostle of England
. . . the Father of the English Bible
. . . the Father of the English Reformation and
. . . the man most responsible for the grandeur of Elizabethan English

What motivated men, women, and even children to face the flames as “heretics” -- rather than deny their precious faith?

These are among the poignant questions answered in this captivating and thoughtful portrayal of the battle for the Bible in the language of the people!
